GRATEFUL

Heather and Amelia Kuecker

“Let the children come to me.  Don’t stop them! For the kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.”  Mark 10:14

If you are looking to hear about opportunities Advent offers to help children in their faith formation and service, just ask Heather and Amelia Kuecker. They are faithful worshipers and a lot of fun! When Heather and her husband, Adam, moved to Maple Grove, Heather wanted to find a church. Her home pastor suggested a couple of churches, one of which was Advent. She remembered the brightness of Advent and the warm welcome she received from the people, so she became a member.

As achild, Heather attended Sunday School and confirmation. She was always exposed to music with her family, so when Amelia was born, she wanted her to have similar experiences. Amelia was baptized as a baby by Pastor Tim in 2014. Amelia has been enrolled in Advent’s Sunday School program (in person before the COVID pandemic, virtually during the pandemic, and currently in person). She participated in the Christmas Program before the pandemic and has special memories of her grandma, aunt, mom, and dad attending the program. Last year Amelia attended VBS and especially enjoyed art projects, snacks, and the “Hippopotamus” song.  Amelia likes to sing; during the COVID pandemic, she recorded her voice and submitted it for the virtual children’s choir. Because Advent’s services have been available online, the Kueckers have shared the link with their extended family in Southeast Minnesota and Wisconsin to hear Ameliasing. This past summer, Amelia sang “Little Lamb, the Shepherd Loves you” with Cog Anderson. Heather reported that many people complimented Cog and Amelia ontheir beautiful duet. Amelia goes up front for Kids’ Time, loves to play in the children’s “Prayer ground” area, and enjoys the fellowship treats.

Heather is grateful to the people of Advent for making faith formation and music opportunities available for children before, during, and after the COVID pandemic that required creative and technological modifications.

When children are newly baptized, as a congregation, we welcome them into the body of Christ and into the mission we share. We are grateful for the staff and many volunteers who use their time, talent, and faith to guide our children in their faith, their understanding of the Bible, and for encouraging them to live out the teachings of Christ in their daily lives.
